Linoleum and Wood Block Prints |
|||||
Linoleum and wood block prints are both relief printing methods. The image is cut into the surface using chisels and gauges, and then ink is rolled on to the raised surface and the image is then transferred to the paper. I love the element of surprise in print making as the final image is always a mirror image of the original design and you never know exactly how it will look until the piece is done. Because of this I spend a lot of time envisioning the final piece while still in the process of creating it. Color is added either through the use of separate blocks or by hand coloring using a verity of medias to achieve different effects. |
